- Paul Le Baron Please check out his site if you are looking to re-locate up here, are interested in having him look for properties for you or you would like a top notch agent to sell your house here on the islands. He is well connected with the community through his volunteer work to raise money for the public schools, as the president of the Schools Foundation.
- Westcott Bay Sculpture Park Nina is the Director of the Westcott Bay Sculpture Park, which is a part of "IMA" (the newly joined arts organization on the island) that she initiated the merger of in 2008 when she was president of the Westcott Bay Institute. The Visual Arts Museum and the Westcott Bay Institute merged January 1, 2009 to form one arts organization. The museum moved to 28 First Street and the Sculpture Park will be getting a new "Peace Park" in 2010!
- Fish House Gardens Nina has started a new business in July 2009. This is a turn key "Aquaponics" system and is the symbiotic cultivation of plants and aquatic animals in a recirculating environment. Architects are constantly exploring how to improve the environment by making buildings less toxic to inhabitants, minimizing the building footprint, controlling run-off from roofs by Storm-water design and suggesting building materials that are sustainably harvested (i.e. not cutting down rain forests to provide flooring which can be grown sustainably-like "Bamboo"). This system can be added on to your existing home, grown indoors or greenhouse. Sustainable Design means being able to sustain yourself without harming the environment and takes 5 minutes a day once set up. No transportation costs, saves fossil fuel and saves the environment. Homeowners and Homeowner Associations, Schools, Colleges, or Church Groups can grow their own chemical free food year round. Revolutionary new invention for onsite food production facilities for institutions or as back-yard farms for families. The ultimate solution for food security with "Talapia" as a hormone and antibiotic free protein source.
- San Juan Island Trails Committee Nina has volunteered to work with Tim Dustrude to refine the Mitchell Hill / DNR Map to be more easily readable graphically so that hikers and bikers will be able to understand the network of trails in that area. The maps will be available through the trails committee at the trail head off West Valley Road, San Juan Island. You can also print up the map from their website before you go to get familiar with the area. Check it out and Happy Trails by horse back, foot or bike!
